konko HOSTEL

How Can a Small Shophouse in Jakarta be Transformed into a World-Class Hostel?

Building on the success of Teduh Hostel, entrepreneur Steven Haurissa asked us to create a second Jakarta-based hostel, with different branding and the addition of private rooms, creating a boutique hotel in the heart of the city. We helped Steven come up with the name Konko, an Anglicization of kongkow, Indonesian slang for hangout. Over three floors, Konko Hostel provides bunks and private rooms, each with a distinct color or character to help wayfinding, and a mix of other rooms including lounge spaces and a ground-floor restaurant.
